The Missouri/Kansas Crisis Negotiation Conference and Challenge brought together over 100 crisis negotiators for training, networking, and competition. Ten teams participated in a high-pressure challenge, testing their negotiation skills in realistic scenarios. The conference also featured educational sessions, including one on “Losing Cases,” which addressed the reality of unsuccessful negotiations, and another on negotiating with a homicide subject outside of their vehicle. The event provided invaluable hands-on experience, fostering skill development and collaboration among law enforcement professionals dedicated to crisis negotiation.

Blue Ridge Negotiator’s Challenge: 2025 – Cary, NC

The Blue Ridge Negotiation Challenge and Seminar, hosted by Crisis Systems Management, is a growing event designed to enhance crisis negotiation skills among law enforcement officers. This year, over 30 officers attended, with four teams competing in a high-pressure scenario based on a real-world incident. The event also featured instructional sessions on two real-life cases: a mother held hostage for over five hours and a homicide suspect negotiation at a remote gas station. With plans to expand, the challenge aims to become a premier training opportunity for negotiators. Those interested in supporting or participating can reach out to help this event grow.
